好久不見 (Long Time No See)
(My Homes Family Dog:Duby)
Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such.

I have been so lazy lately I keep meaning to write in this blog but then I get side tracked or become tired...so I don't. I have beeneally bad at keeping people back home updated about my life. I have been here for almost 2 months and I have only skype my mother once 0_0 And it not that I am never on the computer...cause I am. I just get side tracked.

So many things have happen since my last entry, 1 month ago. Too many things that if I wrote every and everyone of them I would be here until next month.

I have notice that my last few entries have only been on events. So I thought it be nice to do a topic on something other then my life. So today I will talk about Taiwan's Food.

Also I apologize for my horrible English . I think I am just realizing that my writing is going downhill.

~Taiwan's Food ~
Taiwan is a very interesting place.

There is so many kinds and types (western, Asian ect) of food.

I promise you: You'll never starve in this place.

And the prices are cheap so you won't overspend.

Where should I begin???

Ever since coming here I have notice that on a weekly bases I will get craving. Ex; Last week I was craving Sandwiches. This week I am craving Taiwan's bakery food.

It quite weird!! But this is a true fact. I am also starting to crave Taiwanese food 0_0 Like I can eat mostly anything in Taiwan but that doesn't mean that if I am on my own I'll buy it.

I love.... Taiwan's Bakeries (which out beat Canadian bakeries by a 100 times, Cakes (which always seem to taste better in Asian), Doughnuts, dumplings, chicken, burgers and milk (yes milk tastes differently here)

and so much more. Taiwan Culture is so intermixed with food. It a big part of there culture (ex; Nightmarkets, they're everywhere here, a place that is filled with stands of food (for cheap) and so on)and to not try everything is a shame. My classmates keep taking me to new places that I am adoring.

Taiwanese food is amazing. Stuff that I seem to eat on a daily bases is rice (which I hated at first, but now can't seem to live without), spinach, onions and dumplings.

Taiwanese food is usually always fried and a lot of the time can be spicy. It nothing like the Chinese food we have in North America.
Then there is western food. Which 96% of time tastes better (and is cheaper) then actual Western food.

But at the same time how they present it is so weird. Above is a picture of how Chicken is served in one kind of Taipei Restaurant. It basically the full Chicken (funny enough I had this on Taiwan's 100th birthday, also the same day as Canada's Thanks Giving). In Canada, where I live, Chicken is cut up not given in wholes. And since this was a fancy restaurant I could not use my hands so I only had my knives and forks. Which is not so easy to use when your cutting up a whole chicken and eating it as a meal at the same time. And because It was hard to do my host mother said: "You can't use knives or forks very well, can you??"
Before I come to Taiwan everyone kept telling me that the Taiwanese don't like deserts. That they don't eat them. I have now concluded this is a lie. Taiwanese seem to love cakes (any type of pastries really) and pudding (above is pudding in a egg!!!)
Cakes are always so cute, decorative & Yummy.
Taiwan is also King of Fruits.

They always eat fruits

You know when a meal is ending when fruit is being served.

At first I did not really like fruit. I wasn't accustomed to eating so much in a day.

Now I crave it. I am seriously going to miss some of the tropical fruit they grow here that you can not find or buy in Canada.

Last but not least is Convenient Stores. They're so convenient that they are everywhere. I have 2 on my street.

The most common Convenient stores are: 7-11, Family Mart and Hi-Life. I usually go to Family Mart and Hi-Life. I even have a Family Mart in my School Cafeteria. These places sell snacks, coffee, drinks, magazines ,books , sometimes toys, necessities and manga. I usually go to them daily for drinks. You can get water for less then a dollar Canadian^_^

To leave you guys off before my next post here is a picture of something that I absolutely LOVE in Taiwan: Mister Doughnuts.
